I've known Joe for a long time but never really knew his whole story. Joe's story reflects his own internal strength and determination in the face of defeat after suffering an aneurysm as a young college grad. His story is inspiring and a reminder that determination of the human spirit makes all the difference in how we face life's challenges. This book is a testament to Joe's unwavering strength, character, determination, and outlook.

Amazing, thought-provoking memoir of a young man who had it all, only to have it taken from him in a blink of an eye. He clearly articulates how his West Point training, family, and faith helped pull him through the most difficult challenge of his life. A real life hero who never gives up even with the odds stacked against him.
This book reveals so much about what someone goes through who has had a serious medical condition. Joe, a graduate with high honors from
West Point, and with a bright future ahead, suffered a brain aneurysm shortly after graduation from West Point, and subsequently suffered a serious stroke. The book is simply written from the heart in an interesting way—alternating chapters about his life in West Point with life after his aneurysm. Joe, family members and Joe's wife give an ongoing story about life at West Point and Joe's long recovery. You are pulled into all the events from the beginning of training at West Point to how Joe is living his life today. But, this book doesn't just tell a story, it shows how someone can rise above a handicap and use it to live a full life dedicated to the service of others. The book is really inspiring, and offers hope to those who deal with a handicap. It reveals a spirit of joy, dedication, commitment, a deep faith, and strength in adversity. One of the best I have read!
